    Professional Background

    Dr. Moaaz Baghal MD is an Interventional Cardiologist joining Bay Area Cardiology Associates. He specializes in complex coronary interventions with particular expertise in intravascular imaging using IVUS and OCT, as well as high-risk PCI including atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy. He also performs peripheral arterial interventions, venous interventions, and carotid interventions and genicular artery embolization for the management of osteoarthritis-related knee pain.

    Dr. Baghal earned his medical degree (MB BCh) with honors from MISR University for Science and Technology in Cairo, Egypt in 2016. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Palisades Medical Center in New Jersey in 2022, followed by fellowship training in general cardiology at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in 2025 and interventional cardiology at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, completed in 2026.

    He has a strong foundation in cardiovascular research from his time at the University of Pittsburgh’s Vascular Medicine Institute, where his work focused on pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular pathophysiology. Dr. Baghal has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, including at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions.

    Fluent in both English and Arabic, Dr. Baghal is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate interventional cardiology care to patients in the Tampa Bay community.
